At TLC all our entry level teachers are offered part time teaching positions ranging from 5 – 15 teaching hours a week over 29 weeks of the academic year.
Our hiring process involves three main steps designed to respect your time:
1. A quick pre-application quiz for you to fill out to ensure that your chances of moving up the hiring process are high.
2. Once the quiz completed, and your chances of moving up the hiring process are high, you will receive the link to the job application you selected. In the application form will need you to upload the following documents in pdf form.
a. Copy of passport
b. Valid visa (if teaching in France face to face)
c. CV
d. Professional picture in colour
e. All academic certification and diplomas
f. Affidavit of no criminal record if your police check is not immediately available (however police check will be expected upon hiring)
g. Upload an audio with a text to read.
3. For the Main drive: You will be invited for a face to face or online interview and will receive our response to your application within 48 hours.
4. For the Secondary drive: You will be invited for a face to face or online interview and will receive our response to your application within 48 hours.
At TLC we have a main hiring drive starting in 1st June until 1st September with the objective of starting teaching 11th September of the next academic year 2021-2022. Teachers applying for this drive have the possibility of having the best schedules as we plan by logistical area or CEFR level depending on if teaching is done face to face or online.
Our secondary drive starts after the 1st September and is designed for teachers who wish to work with us after the start of the academic year. However, availabilities will be based on our demand at the moment of applying. This can fluctuate and teachers starting with few hours can see their schedules fill up as the year goes by.
What are the four conditions for good language learning/teaching to happen:
1. Know where you are going (CEFR level)
2. Know what you need to do to get there(TLC curriculum)
3. Know how to assess you are on track (ESOLCambridge exams)
4. Ensure you have the means to get there ( the conditions for learning are in place: personal motivation, tools and equipement, parental support, regular practice, structured teaching)
TLC as a company has been expanding on a regular basis for the last 17 years. Marina Duchêne started as the first TLC teacher and now we have 55+TLC teachers service our 650 students.
We are looking to hire teachers who are interested in having a career and are willing to move up our various teaching levels to eventually become a center manager.
The career ladder at TLC is the following:
- TLC SCHOOL teacher : This is a teaching position for teachers who want to teach in a group setting . They teach to A1 and A2 level. This is a part time position (3/5).
- TLC Qualified Teacher – This is a position for teachers who while teaching at least 15 hours a week will have another 400 hours of administrative tasks a year to manage and complete. They will be buddying 10 teachers either with their admin tasks or their teaching. TLC Qualified Teachers can either be specialized in Admin or Teaching a particular level of the CEFR.
- TLC Lead Teacher – A lead teacher would teach at least 10 hours a week and mentor the TLC Qualified Teachers either in administrative tasks or pedagogy. They would also be involved in monitoring the students learning and ensuring they are on Track. This is a full-time position.
- TLC Center Manager – This position would envolve managing a TLC SCHOOL Center as well as market and promote our other TLC services. This is a full time management postion
What does an average TLC teacher schedule look like?

TLC Home and ONLINE entry level Teachers can teach anywhere from 5 to 15 hours a week depending on their teaching experience, their availabilities, as well as their ability to handle the preparation. An average schedule for a TLC teacher would be to teach around 12 hours a week during the academic year. In France students are always off two weeks for the Toussaint break (end of October first week in November), two weeks at Christmas, two weeks end of February for winter break and two weeks around Easter. Here is the academic calendar for 2021-2022.
TLC Home teachers’ schedules are arranged around the travel distances between the classes. This means that teachers may be teaching a variety of CEFR levels but have less than 15 minutes to travel on average between each class.
TLC Home Online teachers’ schedules are arranged around CEFR levels and most teachers are teaching 1 or 2 levels so they can understand and master how one level feeds into the other.
TLC SCHOOL teachers are expected to work every day from 13:00 to 19:00 outside of school holidays (presently not hiring)

We are looking to hire teachers who are interested in having a career and are willing to move up our various teaching levels to eventually become center managers.
– TLC Teacher Entry level: This is a first-year teacher teaching at TLC and can have a schedule around 15 max as we need to see if you are comfortable teaching to our curriculum. Should teachers complete the training requirements and have complied with TLC’s internal policy they can apply to be a level 1 teacher.
-TLC Teacher level 1: Teachers at this level can see their schedules open to 20 or 25 hours (in some cases) as well as enjoy an increase in their hourly pay. Teachers with a good level in their teaching observation as well as completed all the level 1 trainings and complied with policy can apply to be a level 2 teacher.
-TLC Teacher level 2: Teachers at this level are a priority for 25-hour schedules and can be contacted to complete other administration tasks if need be. Their hourly pay is also increased.
– TLC Level 3 Qualified Teacher – These teachers are given an increased hourly pay and may apply to be administrative QT’s where they will be mentoring 10 teachers. Those who qualify for the role will also benefit from an extra 300 hours of admin hours not directly related to teaching over and above a minimum schedule of 15 hours a week.
Those who qualify as a teacher trainer will be given an extra 50 teaching hours directly related to teaching a specific CEFR level to their teachers.
– TLC Level 4 Pedagogy Trainer & Teacher – This is a position for teachers who while teaching at least 15 hours a week will have another 50 hours of teacher training. They will also be the first port of call for any pedagogy questions teachers within the group may have.
– TLC Lead Teacher – This is a position available for TLC HOME teachers. A lead teacher would still teach on a needs basis or cover classes for absent teachers as well as mentor the TLC Qualified Teachers either in administrative tasks or pedagogy. They would also be involved in monitoring the students learning and ensuring they are on Track. This is a full-time management position. They will be in charge of promoting their services.
– TLC Teacher Entry level: This is a first-year teacher teaching at TLC and can have a schedule around 15 max as we need to see if you are comfortable teaching to our curriculum. Should teachers complete the training requirements and have complied with TLC’s internal policy they can apply to be a level 1 teacher.
-TLC Teacher level 1: Teachers at this level can see their schedules open to 20 or 25 hours (in some cases) as well as enjoy an increase in their hourly pay. -TLC Teacher level 2 semi-Qualified teacher: Teachers at this level are a priority for 25 hour schedules and can apply to be a semi-admin QT which implies that they will be mentoring up to 5 teachers. This will give them over their teaching hours (minimum 15) an extra 150 Hours of admin hours not related to teaching. Teachers will benefit from an increase in their hourly rate.
– TLC Level 3 Qualified Teacher & administrator/trainer – These teachers are given an increased hourly pay and may apply to be administrative QT’s where they will be mentoring 10 teachers. Those who qualify for the role will also benefit from an extra 300 hours of admin hours not directly related to teaching over and above a minimum schedule of 15 hours a week.
Those who qualify as a teacher trainer will be given an extra 50 teaching hours directly related to teaching a specific CEFR level to their teachers.
– TLC Level 4 Qualified teacher Pedagogy Trainer & Teacher – This is a position for teachers who while teaching at least 15 hours a week will have another 50 hours of teacher training at level 2. They will also be the first port of call for any pedagogy questions teachers within the group may have. Also teachers will be expected to improve pedagogy and find alternative solutions to teaching methods. They will be given an extra 300 hours to make necessary improvements per year on a specific CEFR level. They will be directly managing the administrators and semi-Qt’s
– TLC Lead Teacher – This is a position available for TLC ONLINE teachers. A lead teacher would still teach on a needs basis or cover classes for absent teachers as well as mentor the TLC Qualified Teachers either in administrative tasks or pedagogy. They would also be involved in monitoring the students learning and ensuring they are on Track. This is a full-time management position. They will be in charge of promoting their services.
– TLC Teacher Entry level : This is an entry level position for teachers and will be expected to teach all courses at A1 level.
– TLC Teacher level 1 : This is a teacher who has obtained a good level in their teacher observation and completed all the requirements for level 1 trainings. They are competent to teach A1 classes.
– TLC Teacher level 2: This is a teacher who has obtained an excellent level in their teacher observation and completed all the requirements for level 1 trainings. They will be able to teach A1 level classes to an excellent level and competent to teach 2 levels as well.
– TLC Level 3 Qualified Teacher – This is a teacher who has obtained an excellent level in their teacher observation and completed all the requirements for level 2 trainings. They will be the main teacher in a center and report to the TLC SCHOOL head.
– TLC Level 4 Center manager – This is a position for teachers who while teaching a few classes will be observing all other classes and ensuring the teachers know what they have to teach and are correctly prepared. They will also be the first port of call for any pedagogy questions teachers within the group may have. Also they will be in charge of the center in terms of managing teachers, marketing, answering questions to clients and maintaining client relationship. This is a 4/5 position.
– TLC SCHOOL head teacher – This is a position available to TLC SCHOOL center managers.. Apart from teaching, this position would involve managing several TLC SCHOOL Centers as well as market and promote TLC services. This is a full-time management position.
